All about George
Jan 09, 2014
George's story is rather sweet. He's travelled across Australia extensively and was owned from new by a man named Doug. Kombi Love bought him from Doug's daughters after Doug sadly passed away.

History
One owner
Bought new in December 1971
1972 driven across the Nullarbor Plain to Perth and back
1975 driven to Melbourne, taken on the ferry to Devonport, driven around
Tasmania, ferry back to Melbourne and then driven back to Sydney
The Restoration begins
First George gets stripped down and all trims are removed...
And his original Honey Brown colouring is removed...
Then the respray (in baby blue) starts!
Doesn't he look amazing?
After renovating George’s bodywork to his original condition, work started on his interior, expertly upholstered by BusnBug:
Dynamat was added to reduce noise.
Fully reassembled and looking very handsome!
We didn’t stop there. We then added a few essential extras to make hiring George “the ultimate Kombi experience”: Alpine iPod connective hi-fi and surround sound entertainment systems, George (and Mildred) now house VW performance engines, sound proofing, authentic style vinyl seats and original rubber floor mats, seat belts, child seat mounts, deluxe rubber bumper trim, white wall tyres, satin rosettes on the side-view mirrors and matching heart-shaped, ceramic-coated exhaust pipes.
Many thanks to our friends at the Australian VW Performance Centre and Busnbugs.
