Merricks General Wine Store dates back to the rural 1920s era. The original building still stands, with its two front gable bays and the tree shaded veranda with an outdoor fire place; the interior offers two large rooms, with high ceilings and floorboards, and there is ample room for a dance floor.
The store’s location is at the foot of the beautiful equestrian trail from Red Hill and looks out over the magnificence of Westernport Bay.
The kitchen is led by Katherine Rachedi. Her menu has a country feel with French inspiration. The regional wines match beautifully with her menu, especially the vineyards represented at Merricks General Wine Store - Baillieu Vineyard, Elgee Park and Quealy Winemakers.
